AT&T has confirmed an additional $5 per month charge on all its home internet packages, effective December 1, 2025. This recent announcement comes on the heels of a similar $5 increase implemented in November 2024. For some long-term subscribers, this represents a third consecutive year of such adjustments, with reports indicating a $5 monthly hike for certain customers as far back as 2023.
Company Justification and Financial Performance
In a statement, AT&T spokesperson Jim Kimberly explained that these rate adjustments are necessary to address growing operational expenditures and ensure the continued delivery of high-quality service. Despite these claims, the company's financial reports reveal a robust performance, with $4.9 billion in profits during the last quarter alone and a total of $12.3 billion in profits throughout 2024.
Impact on Customers and Mitigation Options
The new price hike will apply to most existing AT&T Internet subscribers. However, customers who initiated their service within the last year, as well as those participating in the Access from AT&T program designed for low-income households, will not be affected by this specific increase. To help mitigate the rising costs, AT&T is offering potential discounts for customers who enroll in Autopay and paperless billing services. Eligible bank accounts could receive a $10 monthly discount, while debit card enrollments would qualify for a $5 discount. Subscribers are encouraged to review their monthly statements or visit the AT&T website for detailed information regarding their plans and associated charges.

Currently paying $85.38, this customer anticipates their monthly charges will soon exceed $90 due to the impending adjustment.
