Microsoft Unifies Copilot Applications into a Single 'Super App'
Microsoft is embarking on a significant initiative to merge its consumer and enterprise-focused Copilot artificial intelligence tools into a cohesive “super app” interface. This consolidation begins with the integration of the individual Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot applications, aiming to provide users with a singular, more efficient experience and resolve the inconvenience of redundant application icons. The unified platform, while retaining the “Microsoft Copilot” branding, will feature a refreshed icon, symbolizing this streamlined approach.
As part of this transition, existing personal and work accounts will be migrated to the newly integrated application. Microsoft announced that this update will commence its global rollout for mobile and web versions by mid-August, with desktop applications for Windows and Mac slated for deployment in mid-September. Certain functionalities, including Podcasts and Deep Research, are scheduled for retirement by August 18th, and Group Chat threads will also not transfer to the new environment. Other features like Shopping and Copilot Health may experience temporary unavailability during the update process.
