Samsung has reportedly decided against bringing back a variable aperture camera feature for its upcoming Galaxy S27 series. The decision stems from considerations regarding manufacturing expenses and the potential for a more substantial camera bump, despite ongoing industry developments in similar camera functionalities.
Reports from a Korean news outlet indicate that Samsung has opted not to reintroduce variable aperture technology to the Galaxy S27 lineup, which is anticipated to debut early next year. While earlier discussions and leaks suggested a potential return of this feature, which was present in the Galaxy S9 and S10, the company has reportedly decided against it. The primary reasons cited for this change of plans are the associated production costs and the design challenge of accommodating a thicker camera module within the phone's structure. This choice is particularly noteworthy given that competitors, such as Apple, are rumored to be exploring similar advanced camera capabilities for future devices like the iPhone 18.
