Its proximity to the seafront promenade, the Ronda Litoral highway, active railway lines, and the dense Barceloneta neighborhood creates a challenging construction environment. Furthermore, the presence of a high water table at a depth of eight meters necessitated careful planning and innovative engineering solutions to ensure the stability and longevity of the new structures. The hospital's continuous operation throughout the expansion also demanded meticulous coordination to minimize disruption to patient care and daily functions.

Apartment Matisse, designed by Gurgel D'Alfonso Arquitetura, reimagines a 360-square-meter residence in São Paulo's verdant Moema neighborhood. Completed in 2024, this extensive renovation project transformed a 1990s apartment, initially characterized by its intricate layout, sharp angles, varied floor levels, and numerous partitions, into a modern, cohesive, and brightly illuminated living space. The architectural intervention, spearheaded by Caio D'Alfonso and Rogério Gurgel, focused on dismantling these spatial barriers to foster an environment that encourages openness, natural light, and fluid transitions between areas, reflecting a contemporary approach to living that values connection and adaptability.

The original structure of the apartment, built in the 1990s, presented a challenge with its distinct architectural features, including sharp angles and compartmentalized zones. These elements, while typical of their era, often restricted the flow of natural light and created a sense of separation within the home. The renovation strategy meticulously addressed these issues, aiming to soften the rigid geometry and open up the interior to a more expansive feel.
